Plastic Cards

For many applications, a simple, well-designed standard card is all you need. Advanced features such as RFID, magnetic stripes, or die-cuts should only be added when they offer a genuine added value to your specific use.

Plastic Cards with Magnetic Stripes

The magnetic strips, which serve as data carriers and measure 86 mm in width and 12.7 mm in height, are positioned in a specific location on the PVC cards. When creating your design, please ensure that no text or graphics are placed underneath the stripe. Encoding plastic cards requires a card printer equipped with an additional magnetic stripe encoder. Three read/write tracks are available for personal information, such as names, customer IDs, and serial numbers. The magnetic stripe complies with the ISO 7811/6 standard and has a storage capacity of approximately 1024 bits. Track 1 supports up to 79 alphanumeric characters, Track 2 supports up to 40 numeric characters, and Track 3 supports up to 107 numeric characters.

When is it Worth using a Card Printer?

Personalized plastic cards build brand recognition, improve processes, and enhance security. Cards equipped with magnetic stripes or RFID also allow you to store individual data and information directly on the card.

Our high-quality PVC cards with rounded corners in the ISO 7810 credit card format (85.6 × 54 mm) are compatible with all common card printers. The devices personalize cards as needed and are controlled with special design software. In particular, cards in smaller quantities are often printed in-house in color or black using a desktop card printer with thermal transfer or dye-sublimation printing. Some devices also offer the possibility to store information on the magnetic stripe via an integrated coding module. This solution offers maximum flexibility for applications like employee badges, membership cards, or visitor passes, where data changes regularly. Contact details, information, or access permissions can be updated on individual cards at any time. For larger print runs or exceptionally high-end cards, however, professional production is recommended. It offers advantages in print quality, durability, finishes, and production speed. While desktop printers offer great flexibility, they quickly reach their limits when faced with large volumes and advanced requirements.

Personalisation

Personalise plastic cards yourself using a card printer

As a versatile marketing and identification medium, plastic cards offer maximum design freedom. Print on plastic cards flexibly and directly on-site using specialised card printers. This allows you to retain full control over personal data and updates at all times, whilst benefiting from an ideal solution for businesses, clubs and organisations with changing requirements. When it comes to customisation, the focus is on visible elements such as names, numbers, barcodes, QR codes or photographs. In addition, technical storage functions such as magnetic stripes or RFID can be integrated. These are particularly suitable when the card is to be integrated into existing systems – for example, for access control systems, card readers, point-of-sale systems or other digital applications.

Print the Text yourself

Plastic cards can be customized with individual text, allowing the data on each card to be flexibly adapted. Whether it is names, titles, validity periods, or personalized messages—every plastic card is tailored exactly to the specific user, ensuring unique and professional identification.

Print the Numbering yourself

Sequential or custom numbering ensures unique identification, making it ideal for membership cards, serial numbers or access systems.

Print your own Barcode / QR Code

Equip your cards with a barcode or QR code to instantly add functional value. Additionally, individual numbering can be applied directly using inkjet or thermal transfer printing. Plastic cards with a barcode are ideally suited as library cards as well as customer, membership, or voucher cards.

Print Professional Plastic Cards

Whether in business or in leisure, cards are used in many areas – for example, as a means of payment or as customer and voucher cards. They are also widely used as business cards, membership cards, fuel cards, event tickets or health insurance cards. Thanks to their practical credit-card format, they can be conveniently stored in any wallet or card holder and are always to hand. No wonder, then, that these little helpers, with their versatile functions, have become an indispensable part of everyday life. For gas stations, gyms, the retail sector, the hospitality industry, the events sector, pharmacies, clubs and organisations with visitor or access management systems, these customisable cards offer real added value. They strengthen customer and staff loyalty, streamline processes and ensure structured organisation and secure access control. They can also be used for marketing purposes as promotional tools at trade fairs and events.

The right choice depends entirely on your primary objective: Do you want to encourage repeat purchases, streamline operations, or showcase your business professionally?

The following questions will help you select the right card:

  • What purpose should the card serve?
  • How many cards do you require?
  • Should the cards be purely visual, or do they need to be technically functional?
  • What level of quality or finish are you looking for?

For many applications, a simple, well-designed standard card is already sufficient. Additional functions such as RFID, magnetic stripes, or perforations make sense if they offer a concrete benefit in everyday life. Often, the simplest solution is the best: a classic card with a striking design and a clear purpose. We use digital printing process for your plastic cards. Using professional card printers, we can incorporate personalised data, text, images, numbering, QR codes or embossing to enhance the card’s appeal. Furthermore, our robust cards can serve as a storage medium, offering even greater utility and flexibility. To ensure optimal protection against daily wear and tear, you can also order and custom-print matching card holders with us.
