Questions on print data

Do I need to have my data already checked and ready for print
Yes of course!
By default our digital workflow transfers your data without further artwork checks.

Artwork check service:
We do, however, offer the option of an artwork check service for a small extra charge. Our professional team from our pre-press department will check* your data and contact you immediately should they discover any problems.
For a small extra cost our professional team from our pre-press department checks* your data and contacts you immediately about any potential problems.

*The check includes: correct format and edge trim, sufficient resolution of your print data, correct application of the data in the CMYK colour spectrum, embedding of the fonts used, hairline checking and transparencies, combination of potential existing levels.

Which types of file are accepted?

Currently in our online area we accept the following types of files: PDF, TIFF, JPEG, EPS, PS

How can I transfer my print data?

For transferring your data you can choose between the following options:
  1. Easy to use data upload function by means of our innovative upload function already in the order process.
  2. Transfer the data by email referring to your order
Production time starts with the finishing of the transfer of your complete prining data by 10am on a workday.

What do I need to bear in mind concerning print data?

  1. For quality assurance reasons only closed data files (PDF, JPEG, TIFF, EPS and PS) are accepted.
  2. Please always create pre-assembled multiple page samples (flyer etc.)!
  3. Please always create and save binded products (brochures etc.) as individual pages.
  4. The edge trim must amount to 3mm. (means add 3mm to every side.)
  5. Please do not use frames in the printing template. Due to customary cutting tolerance (approx. 3mm) we cannot guarantee that the frame will surround the final product in even broadness.
  6. For orders without artwork checks any print data which is too small or too large will automatically be made larger or smaller. In order to prevent this from happening please always create your print data to the desired, accurate trim size incl. edge trim!
  7. Do not place text, logos and other elements too close to the margin, because they could be cut off. Please maintain a space of around 5mm from the margin.
  8. Your document must be created in either grey scale or CMYK mode. (No RGB colours!)
  9. In PDF files the incorporation of the embedding of font in the document must be taken into consideration (no transformation into curves!)
  10. The resolution of your print data should amount to a minimum of 300 dpi (for smaller text of up to a point size of 8 the resolution should amount to at least 600 dpi)
  11. The data is not allowed to contain printing tips. > The graphics should contain no hairlines.
For full description about creating and saving print data we recommend our brochure "print data guide", which you can download here for free.

About Java

What is Java?

  1. Java is a special programming language whose programs run on all systems (PC, MAC, Solaris etc.). Therefore, however, a small program (“Java Runtime environment”) has to be installed on your computer. You can download this program for free here .

Why is Java needed?

  1. To transmit your data comfortably and without any errors.

What if I do not have/want to install Java?

  1. In that case there is an alternative upload-centre available. Yet this is only suitable for small files and does not include a process-bar or any other functions of comfort.

At the upload page there is only a grey box and I cannot do anything.

  1. The process and start of the upload-centre may take a moment, depending on your internet connection. In case there is an error in process a red cross will appear in the top-left corner of the box.

What does the error “Connection refused“mean?

  1. Your data will be transmitted via an FTP-protocol. Please configure your firewall so that it allows the upload of data via port 21.
